
St. Charles High School offers Driver's Education classes twice a year through Community Education. For your student to be eligible for this program, they need to be 15 years old or older by August 1 for the annual summer class held in June OR 15 years old or older by February 28 for the annual fall class held in October/November.
Information about the program:
Driver's Education classes will be in person with St. Charles teaching staff instructors. No virtual option.
Cost per student: $410.00 (This fee includes 30 classroom hours and 6 behind-the-wheel hours).
Each class offered will also contain a 90-minute optional parent meeting which will be held one evening in the summer and fall.
After the 30 classroom hours are complete. You will need to schedule your written permit test in Rochester or Winona. Once you have passed your written exam you will be eligible for the behind-the-wheel training. During this time your parent or guardian must provide you with 50 hours of supervised driving experience.
To be eligible to take the written permit test you must have the following:
- Original Birth Certificate
- Original Social Security Card
If you do not have these then you will need two other forms of legal identification.
